Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Targeted Drug Delivery group, led by Dr. Silvia Muro at the Department of Bioengineering & the Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research, has open several postdoctoral positions to work on targeted delivery of nanotherapeutics across biological barriers. Main focus will be on: (a) the synthesis and characterization of polymer nanocarriers for delivery of therapeutic proteins, (b) optimization of strategies for ligand-mediated targeting to cell-surface receptors, © cellular studies on the interaction and transport of said systems, and (d) in vivo pharmacokinetics/biodistribution and effects.

Responsibilities include:
-To conduct research regarding the topics described above.
-To engage in collaborations, recording and reporting, and publications/scientific communications derived from the work.
-To contribute to common lab supporting tasks, including ordering of reagents, maintenance of equipment, and training of new lab members.

-A one-year full-time contract with competitive remuneration based on qualifications, with possibility for year-to-year extensions up to three years depending on performance and funding.

-A diverse/international environment and potential collaborations with/training in our sister lab in the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (Spain).

Minimum Qualifications:

-PhD on Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences or any related areas, with demonstrated experience in drug delivery.
-A track record of scholarly research with experience in with demonstrated experience in drug delivery, cell culture, polymer and conjugation chemistry, nanoparticles, fluorescence and electron microscopy, breeding of mouse colonies and/or PK/PD animal studies.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills, active in project planning and delivery, analytical and critical thinking, high ethics and integrity, leadership and career management oriented, must work well within a team and, particularly, independently.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work, occasionally carrying packages up to 10 pounds, and frequently carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving regular lab objects. Typical lab activities involve repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Continuous visual activities include preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
