Position Summary/Purpose of Position:


The UAS Test Engineer reports to the UAS Pilot, and is responsible for supporting UAS integration and testing including airworthiness reviews, maintenance of UAS, sensor and hardware/software integration, and other support areas assigned in support of Test Site requirements. Additionally, the UAS Test Engineer serves as either a Pilot or a Visual Observer for UAS operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field

At least 3 years of hands-on experience with UAS

CAD and 3-D printed component design experience

UAS integration experience

Remote Control (RC) aircraft and/or UAS flight experience, and avionics experience

FAA Part 107 UAS Pilot Certificate

Ability to travel up to 30% of time

Physical Demands

Work is performed primarily in an aircraft hangar and outdoor environment. Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, lifting and carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 55 lbs), two-person lifts of up to 100 lbs, bending over to set up equipment and record field data, lifting and transporting by hand shipping crates for test equipment, maneuvering cargo dollies. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. Occasional test activities will be held at outdoor sites with long distances over uneven and/or wooded ground, or on vessels.
