Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Communications Graduate Assistant supports the school-wide communications program, providing both general administrative support and execution of specific communications projects. This 12-month appointment entails 20 hours of work per week, and may require occasional evening hours for events.

Directly assists the Assistant Director of Communications with:
o Communications database administration and management.
o Cataloguing of photographic and other assets.
o Preparation/processing of mailings and returns.
o Event support.
o Research and writing assignments as required.
o Other tasks as assigned.

Assists additional Clark School communicators, including the Assistant Dean for Communications, Senior Content Coordinator, Multimedia Specialist, and Marketing Coordinator, with relevant projects and tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

o Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
o Exceptional computer skills, especially in Excel, Word, and Google Drive.
o Knowledge of database design.
o Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
o Effective management of responsibilities and time.
o Energy, enthusiasm, and initiative.
o Admission to UMCP Graduate School.
o Ability to commit to a regular work schedule.


o Familiarity with web content management systems, specifically Drupal.
o Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud.
o Experience with Cumulus, Salesforce, and/or Cision.
