Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The University of Maryland’s Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) encompasses several research projects that are supported by a combination of user fee revenue and grant funding. One of these programs, the Capital Wireless Information Net (CapWIN), continues to pursue technical development to expand its user base among public safety and transportation agencies throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. To support this effort, CapWIN requires a computer programming resource to add features to its mobile data software solutions, including PC and handheld-based solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent experience in a related field. A Master’s Degree in one of the above disciplines equals one year specialized and two years general experience.

• Must have at least one year of computer programming experience.
• Must be capable of utilizing modern programming languages (Java/C#).
• Must be familiar with Integrated Development Environments (Eclipse or Visual Studio).
• Must be able to verify the accuracy and completeness of programs and systems by preparing sample representative data and perform testing by means of cycle and system processing.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and correct system related problems with little or no guidance from senior technical staff.
• Ability to work well with others, especially in stressful situations.
• Ability to work calmly under deadlines.
