Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

To act as the primary point of contact in the Area & Classroom Maintenance Shop for all initial customer inquiries, complaints and comments concerning campus buildings and general purpose classrooms; to perform all office duties; to interact with procurement and vendors and process unit procurements; to ensure that monthly safety meetings are conducted; to provide high quality customer service using professionalism, confidentiality, and good judgment at all times; and to provide administrative support to the Assistant Director, managers and assistant managers as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree AND Two years experience in administrative staff work. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Great attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality; Comprehensive knowledge of the use and maintenance of work control/purchasing databases and software; ability to compose and send electronic mail and to produce necessary professional documents; Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain a high level of customer service; Skill in the use of office automation software and its application (specifically MS Office applications including PowerPoint).

Experience in scheduling and determining resource requirements in a trade’s environment desired.

Additional Certifications:

Incumbent may be required to travel to meetings or other campus locations as part of job duties; if driving a State vehicle, must possess and maintain a valid Maryland Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points.

Physical Demands

Must be capable of carrying light loads (15 lbs. or less) for short distances. Office is in a shop environment. Incumbent is Nonessential.
