Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Manages the Main English Office (MEO) including supervision of the receptionist, ensuring front office coverage, and maintenance of physical spaces. Oversees the collection of varied data related to faculty and staff, and uses that data to produce reports and alert administration of trends. Through extensive knowledge of departmental, college, and university policies and procedures, provides escalated support for complex inquiries. Oversees facilities management for the department, including project management, space allocation, and event setup. Serves as the department’s Green Office representative, promoting responsible use of resources. Coordinates large-scale events. Manages faculty and staff search processes, and faculty promotion processes. Manages the department’s work-study program, including allocation, hiring, review, and budget management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus three years of related administrative experience .

Attention to detail and proficiency with collecting, compiling, organizing, and analyzing data, including the use of spreadsheet software, is required. The selected candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a wide range of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.


Strong preference for candidates with experience in higher education, experience supporting departmental administrators, and experience at the University of Maryland, College Park.
