Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Division of Information technology (DIT) is looking to hire a HR Coordinator to provide administrative support to the human resources and payroll functions within the Division, which is comprised of approximately 300 staff and 300 student workers.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in handling a wide array of administrative and HR-support related tasks, will be able to execute multiple assignments under specific time constraints, collaborate well in a team environment, work independently with little or no supervision, and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and tact.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

-1-2 years experience working in an office environment specific to administrative and/or human resource management (i.e. payroll, calculation of salary adjustments)

-Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

-The ability to work under pressure with a diverse group of colleagues

-Highly organized, proactive, solution-driven, and customer-service oriented individual

-Working knowledge of Excel


-UMD experience

-Working knowledge of the University’s Payroll and Human Resource (PHR) appointment system.

Physical Demands
