We are a fast-moving team responsible for helping UMD achieve its outcomes through developing and implementing teaching, learning, research and administrative solutions which leverage technology that align with strategic goals and objectives. We also focus on continuous improvement, fostering innovation, constant learning, and developing people to their full potential.

In this role, you will lead UMD’s Infrastructure Services engineering function. You will develop and nurture strategic relationships with business partners, IT leaders and external partners to implement solutions that align with strategic goals and objectives. Your task is to define and implement IT policies and processes, develop staff, create and promote an environment that fosters communication, collaboration, and innovation and effectively communicate the value and opportunity of emerging technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

10 years of progressive experience managing network, server, storage, and backup infrastructure.

5 years of experience managing multi-person teams.

Core Skills:
- Ability to use written and verbal communication effectively at all levels of the organization is essential.
- Proven experience in IT planning and systems development and deployment using ITIL – based approaches.
- Motivate and challenge staff and their valuable resources in order to deliver measurable results.

Technical Skills: Strong expertise in managing all infrastructure services including server, storage, cloud (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), network, voice all within the context of IT security.

Soft Skills: Acting with urgency. Simplifying through process and automation. Problem-solving. Being flexible. Exercising sound judgment. Listening.
