Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to assist in the planning and execution of select Smith School customized non-degree programs. The Program Management Specialist will work closely with the Assistant Director and Program Manager of Executive Programs to plan and execute select domestic academic training programs. The Program Management Specialist is responsible for the coordination and delivery of select executive education programs.

Duties include, but are not limited to: ensuring program participants have required program materials, managing effective communication with faculty, staff and clients, assist with domestic travel arrangements and participating in team meetings, assist with classroom and technology needs and accurately allocating program expenses. The Program Management Specialist for Executive Programs is the first point of contact for executive program participants, pre, during and post-program resolving any problems that arise and ensure that operational and expense expectations are met.

This position is part-time and may require work-from-home with regular meetings with the College Park operations staff. Required evening and weekend work periodically. Will require time is spent delivering programming held onsite either on the UMD campus, in the Washington DC metro area, in and around Baltimore, MD, or in Harpers Ferry, WV. Additional support of all program operations to be done in conjunction with the operations team.

Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS degree or equivalent years of work experience; A broad understanding of the business school and higher education marketplace with particular emphasis on program management, executive education and leadership development; At least one year, hands-on client service and event planning experience working successfully in a team-oriented environment; Excellent written and oral skills; Strong client service values and a high level of enthusiasm in dealing with internal and external clients; Proven ability to make effective use of time, plan ahead, and coordinate multiple projects, while still paying close attention to detail; Must be able to work independently as well as in a team; Must be a dynamic customer service oriented person who displays mature judgment and strong organizational skills; Proficiency in current word processing, email, spreadsheet and presentation software; Willingness and ability to learn proprietary software and audiovisual equipment; Willingness to take on duties outside of specific job functions to serve needs of the School. Candidate must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to Harper’s Ferry, WV and/or other client program sites.

Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required. Ability to travel and stay overnight for extended periods of time, up to approximately 2 weeks in Harpers Ferry, WV. Incumbent can expect to work between 30 – 40 hours per week.

Wage: $25/hour
