Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Coordinator Of Administration will provide extensive support for all facets of the department, while maintaining the highly confidential nature of the department’s academic & business matters (i.e. Chair’s office, personnel matters, APT process, accounting/budget). This position will serve as the point of contact for the Department with internal and external faculty, alumni, staff, students, parents, and contributors. Incumbent will coordinate the activities of various departmental committees such as, Departmental Advisory Board, faculty searches, and APT committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree.
*Minimum of 5 years of related experience with an associate degree.
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience with a HSD/GED.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to learn new databases available on campus;
• Ability to compile and analyze data; advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office (MS Word/Excel);
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Highly organized, very efficient and able to work independently;
• Ability to interact effectively in a professional business environment.


Knowledge of UMCP personnel policies and procedures, including the FAR and OPA reporting procedures for faculty and staff process;
• Ability to train those who will be completing the forms;
• Knowledge of university business / travel policies/procedures;
• Knowledge of university APT policies (promotion and tenure procedures);
• Knowledge of publication tracking software Web of Science and End Note.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

Must have the ability to walk short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
