Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This highly visible position within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources acts as the College’s liaison with the University of Maryland Alumni Relations, the AGNR Alumni Chapter Board, its committees, and activities. Most importantly, this position looks for ways to engage our alumni through programs and events and increase membership. H/she will work with other units when called upon as a resource to our alumni community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. Preference will be given to advanced degree recipients.
Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience working in a relationship management capacity, alumni relations, marketing and/or program development

Preferences:

•Should have experience with program management.
•Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of constituents, volunteers, and colleagues, and be able to work collaboratively with a group of fund-raising professionals and program staff professionals and faculty. He or she must demonstrate the aptitude to represent the University in a highly professional and effective manner.
•Should have demonstrated a broad experience in recruiting and managing volunteers/staff and managing committees
•Must have a strong customer service ethic and experience overseeing successful events and activities.
•Must have excellent communication skills. He or she should have demonstrated proficiency with technologies, social media and information outlets.
•Should have the ability to manage many projects simultaneously and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
•Should have good understanding of the values of a public higher education institution and the ability to articulate these values to internal and external constituencies.
•Will be required to work in the evenings and weekends on occasion, and be able to travel, especially within the state of Maryland.
•Should have an understanding of the land grant system

Physical Demands

Traditional office environment. Ability to transport boxes for events, move tables/chairs and lift up to 20lbs. Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary for special events and activities. Some travel throughout the state of Maryland.
