Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration – works with senior college officials/ARHU chairs and directors, and ARHU Living Learning Program personnel. Oversees financial services for all aspects of the college functions in order to maintain their efficient operations of approximately $65M across 26 administrative units and 4 Living Learning Programs, including preparations for the annual budget process.

Works regularly with chairs, directors and the assistant and associate deans regarding revenue, expenditure and reserve strategies to maximize utilization of college monies. Provides direct training and mentoring to ARHU business managers and Living Learning personnel on campus and State policies, procedures and practices. Provide supplemental training to business managers and other staff members in the use of the campus enterprise financial systems. College representative on the Priority Software (BA3/BA4) User Group.

Responsible for developing and maintaining current and projected commitments from multiple campus, ARHU, and other units, and will ensure distribution and collection and prepare utilization of the committed resources.

Primary operational contact for ARHU with Provost Business Office, Office of Budget and Fiscal Analysis, General Accounting, Procurement, and Travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
• 6 years progressive financial management responsibility (minimum $5M annual budget) in an academic/higher education environment. Includes functions such as budget preparation and analysis, account reconciliation, financial projection and reporting.
• Excellent organizational skills and abilities – able to prioritize and multi-task in a complex dynamic environment. The ability to manage competing deadlines and to be responsive to the needs for multiple individuals and units

Preferences:

• Familiarity with UM, USM, and State policies and procedures
• Familiarity with UM administrative systems: BA3/BA4, KFS, PHR, BPM, ELF
• Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
