Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The incumbent in this position will manage the Police Records Management Systems (RMS) and Police Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD). The incumbent will ensure systems remain up to date and operable. They will provide critical system support during system failures and other troubleshooting needs. The IT Database Administrator is responsible for Design, Management, Maintenance, & Documentation of all UMPD owned Databases. They will respond to Data sharing requests in appropriate manner and are responsible for the development and management of any direct interactions with UMPD owned Databases. Furthermore, the incumbent will perform the following job duties:
• Assist with the training of new systems support & programming employees (full and part time)
• Assist Information Analysis Unit, Records, & Office of the Chief with all required statistical & analysis reports
• Test and Install all relevant database security updates and patches
• Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover of all UMPD owned database
• Manage emergency contact database & sync process (UMD Alerts)
• Assist Programming team in database/table design for internal business applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or other related fields.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in database administration. Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.

Expertise in Oracle Database Servers.
Expertise in Windows domains/Environments.


Intermediate experience with Windows Server & Microsoft Office

Employee may be required to work 24/7 on an as need basis for problem resolution. Employee is considered essential for critical Public Safety Operating System needs (to include 911 center operations).
