Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is seeking a graduate assistant for the First Year Book Program. The First Year Book Program (FYB) at the University of Maryland selects one book each year that is distributed to incoming students and serves as a touchstone for campus-wide conversation. The Graduate Assistant for the FYB program helps to facilitate all web development, social media, campus programming, event planning, and administrative duties for the year. Excellent writing skills and good working knowledge of Wordpress, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator are preferred. Other duties include photography at University events, creating and giving presentations about the book, filming and editing short videos, and developing content for the website such as lesson plans, chapter guides, and other resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in a full-time graduate program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Graduate Students in any major or college are eligible to apply. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Attention to detail, good written and oral communication skills necessary.

Preferences:

Excellent writing skills and good working knowledge of Wordpress, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator are preferred. Experience with photography, content creation, lesson planning, event planning, and general office duties are preferred.
