Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks two Graduate Assistants to serve as members of the Transfer Admission team. This is a 20 hours per week, 12 month assistantship consisting of the following responsibilities:

• Serving on admission committee, including reviewing and making decisions for undergraduate students.
• Counseling prospective undergraduate students on admission processes
• Assisting with the admission process for special programs, scholarships, and limited enrollment programs.
• Serving as a representative of the Undergraduate Admissions Office, and facilitating information sessions and support with counseling prospective students
• Limited recruitment travel to local venues for recruitment events and at times provide informational presentations.
• Participating in Undergraduate Admission recruitment events including: Admitted Student Open Houses, Discover Maryland, Maryland Day, Visit Maryland Day, and Maryland Marquee Day, and other events as assigned
• Other tasks as assigned by the Associate/Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Additional Benefits include being eligible for 10 credits of tuition remission in the Fall and Spring semesters, 4 credits in the Winter Term, and up to 8 credits during the Summer, and participation in the employee health benefits program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled in a full-time graduate program at UMD.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong customer service skills
Strong computer skills, especially with Excel
Previous counseling experience preferred
