Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Center for Engineering Concepts Development (CECD), established in 1998, is a platform for experimenting with new ideas in engineering education, future technologies, research, and the impact of engineering on society. The Center’s mission is to undertake activities to benefit the economic welfare of the state of Maryland and the Nation by supporting symposia, special groups, courses and innovative activities of contemporary interest. We are seeking a Faculty Assistant to work full time in the Center on both research and administrative duties.

Research Duties include (among others):

• Online and bibliographic research to support publications in the area of CECD’s successful Energetics and Engineering for Social Change programs.
• Contributing to and editing of CECD’s yearly book on topics of current interest.
• Gathering, assembling, analysis and editing of current information both online and offline on issues such as energetics, sustainability, and engineering education for use in the Center.
• Assembling technical reports of CECD research for distribution.

Administrative Duties include (among others):

• Updating and expanding the research center’s online presence.
• Preparing information suitable for outreach and public relations working with the Department’s communications office.
• Handling of standard organizational tasks for Center events.
• Preparing Center documentation for travel, purchasing, student assistance, etc.

Initial 6 month probationary period, then yearly renewal of the position.

This position does not support work visas (H1, J1, OPT, CPT, etc..)
