Position Summary/Purpose of Position:



The Peace Corps Campus Recruiter works with the Peace Corps Mid-Atlantic Regional Recruiting Office to provide information concerning Peace Corps volunteer service opportunities to the campus community and to neighboring communities.

The 2017-2018 Peace Corps Campus Recruiter will be responsible for implementing the Campus Recruitment Strategy Plan:

  • Coordinate specified recruitment activites, including information sessions, classroom presentations, and informational interviews.
  • Promote all public Peace Corps and recruiting events through campus media, including social media and campus media.
  • Develop and facilitate strategic recruitment activities each semester on campus to increase awareness of Peace Corps.
  • Develop and/or maintain partnerships and collaborations with university department heads, student organizations, and RPCV groups, Coverdell fellow programs and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate responsibilities of participants of the Peace Corps Campus Ambassador program.
  • Advise students on their candidacy for Peace Corps, provide them with feedback on their application materials, and assist students in preparing for Peace Corps interviews.
  • Submit monthly progress reports to Peace Corps regional recruitment office. The reports will include planned vs. actual production; number of class presentations, informational events, and interviews; number of inquiries; highlights of successful campus awareness, partnerships and/or recruitment activities; recruitment challenges; assistance needed; contact information of leads collected and a schedule of next month’s planned activities.
  • Compile and submit a final year-end report which includes a brief overview of outcomes, production levels, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have the following:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to plan, market and execute events.
  • Preferred experience in preparing and delivering presentations to small and large groups.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and have a flexible schedule.

Candidate must be enrolled in a UMD graduate program for 2017-2018.

Candidate must be a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer.

This Graduate Student Hourly position is a ten month commitment at 10 hours per week, August 14, 2017 through June 15, 2018, with possibility of renewal in September for the 2018-2019 academic year.
