Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Responsibilities will include: participation in General Education assessment projects; monitoring/tracking information related to General Education courses; supporting the work of the General Education Faculty Boards, such as setting up meetings and responding to phone inquiries; providing back-up coverage for the office reception desk; and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current enrollment as a full time student in a University of Maryland (College Park) graduate school program is required. Graduate students in any major or college are eligible to apply. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Candidates will demonstrate good communication skills (written and oral) and be detail oriented.


The successful applicant must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be dependable and conscientious. An interest in assessment, and higher education policies and practices, as well as a sense of humor and the ability to get along with many individuals is very desirable.

The 20 hour work week schedule primarily occurs between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The Office of Undergraduate Studies observes the University of Maryland holiday schedule and the assistantship will run through the entire year.
