Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The School of Public Policy (PUAF) Web Development and IT Graduate Assistant’s duties will include:

• Assist the web developer with the development and maintenance of the School of Public Policy website portfolio, specifically using Drupal CMS and PHP/MySQL.

• Train users to develop respective portions of their websites, using Drupal CMS

• Application of Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Acrobat, Photoshop and InDesign) and other electronic publishing and graphic tools for web and other design functions.

• Assist with audio-visual connectivity and support.

• Assist with PC, printer and network configuration

• Troubleshoot PC hardware and software problems

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrollment in a graduate program at the University of Maryland College Park is mandatory. Demonstrable familiarity with current desktop and laptop computer systems and peripherals; prior experience with desktop support and maintenance preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without difficulty.

Preferences:

Preferred Skills: The successful GA will be able to demonstrate a combination of the following:

• High-level knowledge of Drupal content management system
• High-level knowledge of and skills with web development, including PHP/MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript; FTP
• Knowledge of and skills with Adobe Creative Suite and other electronic publishing and graphic tools;
• Knowledge of and skill with data management tools, such as Excel and Access
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot PC networking, hardware and software problems;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Ability and willingness to work in a team and with a diverse spectrum of students, faculty and staff;
• Ability to take initiative and work independently;
• Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

This is a 20-hour, 9-month appointment with full GA benefits, including tuition remission and the State of Maryland health benefits. Salary will be based on the School of Public Policy FY 17 Graduate Assistant Stipend Levels.
