The Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) Laboratory at the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering, is the leading transportation information analysis, visualization, and user interface design laboratory in the country. Our products and services are used by thousands of public safety agencies, state and local departments of transportation, public officials, and consultants every day. We provide an integrated product suite of situational awareness tools for emergency managers, and also provide leading edge data analytics products for transportation planners and consultants. These products and services are rapidly changing the way governments do business and make important decisions.
The CATT Lab is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Big Data Developer.
|Position Summary/Purpose of Position:||
This position requires a unique skill set and will serve as the primary developer and architect on an early version of distributed computing platform powering big data analytics. This platform will store and operate on an ever-growing archive of 2.1+ trillion records requiring about 90 TB of space. Related technologies include: Java, Hadoop ecosystem including MapReduce, YARN, HBase, Storm, Spark, and Kafka.
